Free School Garden Design, Consultation and Presentation

Watching and teaching my three children as they grow and learn has made me passionately believe that one of the most important and educational experiences children can have is that which takes place in the natural environment. Such experiences are often fun, challenging, give skills which last a lifetime and teach children about the natural world, which is something that affects us all.

A beautiful school garden can give a child all of these experiences. In addition involving children in both the conception and maintenance of their school garden and giving them a chance to grow their own produce will give your pupils a sense of ownership, while at the same time teaching them the importance of looking after the environments in which they live.

Recently the Government has realised the importance of Early Years and Foundation Stage children having regular access to an outside space, which is educational, fun and often improves behaviour. As a result they have now enacted this into law as part of the EYFS strategy, and in many areas have made funding available through local authorities and various funding bodies.

As part of your Ofsted inspection your school is now required to provide Early Years and Foundation Stage children regular access to outdoor play areas, which enable children to have creative play, exercise and interaction with plants, the natural environment and wildlife.
